Subject: Public Information on the Launch of the Magellan Project and Inquiry on Reforestation Policy
Dear Mr. President,
Regardless of whether this letter reaches you personally, I consider it my duty to officially and publicly inform you of the launch of the Magellan Project.
The guiding idea is clearly defined:
Every free piece of land on Earth receives a tree.
In my hometown in Germany, this winter brought one centimeter of snow — for a single day. In previous years, there were thirty to forty centimeters for several months. I am not an ideologue; I am an observer. And what I observe is an accelerated transformation of our planet.
If we have extracted resources for decades, it is only logical that we must now give back in equal measure.
Mr. President, allow me therefore to ask the following questions:
How many trees have been planted in the United States over the past three years?
Are comprehensive reforestation measures planned for the current year?
And do you personally intend to plant one or more trees this year?
Furthermore, I respectfully raise another question:
Would it be possible to establish a direct exchange with those responsible for reforestation projects in your country? The goal would be to exchange techniques and increase efficiency, as our objective is clear: to plant as many trees as possible, as quickly as possible.
Our clock is ticking. At present, we are not even restoring a fraction of what we consume annually. If we continue at this pace, we will leave future generations with significantly weakened living conditions. We must think about the future.
Do you therefore plan to plant trees privately this year as well?
A simple public statement of “Yes” would send a powerful signal worldwide.
You are the President of one of the most influential nations in the world. Leadership is demonstrated not only through economic or military strength, but also through responsible stewardship of natural foundations of life.
The Magellan Project is organized with full transparency. Supporters may choose whether trees are planted in cities, in forest regions, or in equatorial zones — where rainfall and ecological impact are particularly high.
There are three possible selections:
City – Forest Region – Equator.
Participation has been intentionally designed to be simple. Those who wish to contribute may make a donation and subsequently inform us by email in which region the trees should be planted.

Every planting is documented. Every contribution is traceable.
I would also like to propose a symbolic gesture: a white flag — visibly displayed — as a sign of civilian responsibility and commitment to the protection of our planet. In other words, a white flag signals that civilians recognize themselves as civilians. It is not a sign of weakness, but of protective intent in times of political tension.
Now to a sensitive aspect of this letter.
I am aware that structural economic interests — particularly within security and defense-related industries — do not necessarily align with global disarmament or peace symbols. Nevertheless, I am convinced that long-term stability can only be achieved through the protection of life and the preservation of the environment.
In a letter addressed to President Steinmeier, I expressed similar concerns. This is not about confrontation, but about responsibility. Those who seek to initiate change require protection through transparency and public visibility.
I therefore state clearly and soberly:
I act publicly. I act transparently. And I trust that visibility creates safety.
If we all visibly assume responsibility, destructive dynamics lose significance over time. If more and more people display white flags as symbols of the protection of life, demand for destructive instruments will inevitably decline.
Planting a tree takes fifteen minutes.
Its impact lasts for generations.
The world observes leadership.
And sometimes leadership begins with a simple act.
With highest respect,
Gabriel Francis Tonleu
